This is the very definition of games as art.

It's clever the way the dialogue interferes with your task, or your task interferes with your ability to engage with the characters. The different viewpoints represented, the realities we face. The choices in what sacrifices you make. You've distilled the crises of modern society into an impressively concise format.

The presentation is pretty cool too, haha~

Chris responds:

Thanks so much for the review. I'm so glad that people are really getting it with this game. I honestly had no idea how it would be recieved because its not necessarily a "fun" game.

Is that bloop sound from Hungry Pumkin? If so, very fitting.

Ant responds:

Yeye lol

AtreyuGilbert responds:

amazing how you recognized the sound!

Clean sprites, good music, cute and coherent design. I like it on the art front.

When I first got to playing, I was thinking "Bah, this movement is so basic. What could they possibly innovate from this?". I played Worm Zone and got my answer.

I do have one gripe, however, and it's a big one. Replaying a whole level's worth of dead-easy stuff just to get another shot at what you haven't figured out yet gives you just enough time that it's dropped from your short-term memory and it's like going in somewhat blind again.

LeviRamirez responds:

Glad you liked it! In the full game with actual finished and cohesive levels checkpoints (hopefully) will elevate this issue, my thought process when making these little areas was that they were small enough that it wouldn't be too difficult to make it back where you were, but I'll def keep good checkpoint placement in mind in the full game!

Glad you liked it! <3

For how long? I look forward to seeing what this becomes.

Default responds:

There might be more added to the overworld after the games are released but I'm not sure yet

It took me some fussing around to really "get" the controls, but once they clicked the really clicked. With the sheer amount of depth you get from this mechanic, the very to-the-point design, the focused measure of progress, I could see this catching a lot of relevance as a speedrun game.

I hope it does; I'd love to see how much people can optimize this unusual movement.

Miroko responds:

I was thinking of expanding a lot more on this mechanic since it is very physic based and easy to implement but ran out of time with these cutscenes. I would love to see someone speedrun this game other than me haha

So you call them shitposts despite the fact that they are obviously good. 🍔

MrPakoMan responds:

y-yuh....y-y-you know the-... one thing i sh-.... excuse me for one second....

bad because yo uhave to eat so much plate!!!!

Ant responds:

shut up loser
us plate eaters hate people like you

NevaZ0r responds:

MmmMm plate :]

Wow, this is the first game I've ever felt compelled to outscore myself this way. The way the difficulty ramps up along with your score, BUT so does your ability to get more score via long-distance combos...I'm addicted!

I only have one complaint though. Jumping pits is kind of finnicky, and despite how fast you're going when you hit the ramp, if you miss the pre-ollie, you lose all your speed and smash immediately downwards. Feels like at that speed, the little ramp itself should give you the boost you need.

While this concept has been done plenty of times before, you struck gold with the execution. Fantastic work.

EDIT: It's also rad that you put extra effort into perfecting it after the fact!

cheesycoke responds:

THANK YOU it's been crazy watching your score jump up even further in the leaderboard, hella impressive stuff I really appreciate it! Means a lot seeing someone get that into it.
That ramp thing is definitely something I'll think about yeah, thank you for the input!

It's decent execution, but the lingering trail of your strokes can hit stuff which makes avoidance unintentionally difficult.

Also, every fruit makes apple slices. I do like it though, don't you worry!

raphaelcarrard responds:

i solved this bug from apples slices when slice every fruit

I'm actually trying, trust me!
